What This Product Does

Build and expand your lightning-fast network with Omada Pro S5500-48GP4XF-a fully enterprise-level managed switch with 48× gigabit PoE+ ports and 4× 10G SFP+ ports. Users can supply up to 500 W total power to connected devices and flexibly deploy equipment such as wireless access points or IP cameras without worrying about power outlets. PoE support together with high-performance static routing, enterprise-level QoS, advanced security features and a selection of Layer 2 management options make S5500-48GP4XF a great choice for enterprises, MDUs, hotels, and ISPs.

Layer 2 and Layer 3 features include Proxy ARP, Static Routing, OAM, DDM, sFlow, L2PT, and DLDP to meet the needs of ISP customers, while IP-MAC-Port Binding, VLAN Binding, and Access Control List (ACL) functions protect against broadcast storms, ARP attacks, Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks, and other threats. Quality of Service (QoS) provides enhanced traffic management capabilities to ensure fast transfers for your important data, even when the network is busy. Integration into the Omada Pro system brings centralized cloud management and a series of management features such as Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) and Intelligent Anomaly Detection. Moreover, easy-to-use web management interfaces, along with CLI, SNMP, RMON, and Dual Image mean faster setup and configuration with less downtime.

IEEE 802.3at/af-compliant Power over Ethernet

48× IEEE 802.3at/af-compliant PoE ports supply up to 500 W total power to 802.3at and 802.3af devices.* Set up wireless access points, surveillance cameras, IP phones, and other PoE devices quickly and easily, without the hassle and cost of installing power cabling.

Enterprise Switch with 10G Uplink

4× 10 Gbps SFP+ slots deliver non-blocking performance and minimal latency, ensuring rapid, dependable connections to servers and other switches.

Secure Networking

Security features include IP-MAC-Port Binding and VLAN Binding, Port Security, Storm Control, and DHCP Snooping to defend against a range of network threats. An integrated list of common DoS attacks is available, making it easier than ever to prevent them. In addition, the Access Control Lists (ACL, L2 to L4) feature restricts access to sensitive network resources by denying packets based on source and destination MAC address, IP address, TCP/UDP ports, or VLAN ID. Users' network access can be controlled via 802.1X authentication, which works with a RADIUS/Tacacs+ server to grant access only when valid user credentials are provided.

Advanced QoS

Leveraging IP, MAC, TCP, and UDP identifiers, our QoS feature ensures seamless voice and video transmission-even when bandwidth is in short supply.

Abundant L2 and L3 features

S5500-48GP4XF supports a complete lineup of L2 and L3 features, including Proxy ARP, Static Routing, OAM, DDM, sFlow, L2PT, DLDP, 802.1Q VLAN, Port Mirroring, STP/RSTP/MSTP, Link Aggregation Control Protocol, and 802.3x Flow Control. Advanced IGMP Snooping ensures the switch intelligently forwards multicast streams to only the appropriate subscribers, cutting out unnecessary traffic, while IGMP throttling & filtering restrict each subscriber on a port level to prevent unauthorized multicast access. Static Routing, an L2+ feature, is a simple way of segmenting the network and internally routing traffic through the switch for improved efficiency. Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) blocks traffic on a single ring link to prevent looping and effectively adds redundancy and up-time protection to any network.

    Network Switch Buying Guide

Connect Multiple Devices to a Network and Route Data to Designated Devices

What is a network switch and what does it do?

    NSUG24C2 ethernet switch

Are there different types of network switches?

There are two main types of network switches, unmanaged and managed. The essential difference is the capability to configure the operation of a managed switch to customize and optimize network traffic for specific applications.

    Unmanaged Switches

    Managed Switches

Where do you place network switches?

Network switches are usually placed on a desk or table, mounted on a wall, or mounted in a rack. CompSource offers unmanaged desktop switches (with metal or plastic housing) and both unmanaged and managed rack-mount switches with metal housing and a built-in PDU (Gigabit Ethernet Switch PDU Combos).

What is a Gigabit Ethernet Switch PDU Combo?

CompSource offers an exclusive line of unmanaged and managed Gigabit Ethernet switches that have Power over Ethernet (PoE).

    Factors to Consider

Does your application require a managed switch?

If your application involves controlling network traffic, you will need the features of a managed switch. The following are some examples of tasks that require a managed switch:

    • Controlling access between departments within your LAN
    • Running many bandwidth-intensive applications simultaneously
    • Giving important data greater priority in your LAN
    • Improving the performance of a busy network
    • Implementing VoIP, wireless LANs or other advanced services

How many devices do you need to connect to your network?

Make sure you select a switch with enough Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbps) Ethernet ports for the devices you want to connect to your network. If you think you'll add more devices in the future, choose a switch that will give your network room to grow.

how many devices do you need to connect to your network

Do you need to connect multiple network switches?

If you plan to connect multiple network switches, look for models with SFP uplink ports (also known as Mini-GBIC ports). SFP uplink ports are connection points for SFP (small form-factor pluggable) modules that allow the switch to uplink to other switches using optical fiber cabling.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) uses existing network cables to power connected devices, such as VoIP phones, wireless access points and surveillance cameras. If you need this functionality, look for a switch with Gigabit Ethernet ports that support PoE. Make sure the power per port (in watts) and the total power budget of the PoE ports meet the needs of your electronic devices.

It was awesome, I purchased several items all with free shipping. I couldn't believe my eyes when it was all at my doorstep the NEXT DAY! I had a technical question and decided to try CompSource instead of the manufacture and they were able to answer my question with only two rings vs. 2 hours with vendor tech support. I will use them again. Anonymous
