GIGABIT ETHERNET MANAGED POE+ SWITCH, (4)10/100/1000MBPS COPPER RJ45 POE+,(2)10/
Manufacturer Part Number: LIE1082A
Compact PoE switch with fiber uplinks designed for harsh environments and mission-critical applications. PoE+ for convenience. This switch has four 10/10/1000-Mbps RJ-45 PoE/PoE+ copper ports and 2 10/100/1000-Mbps copper ports. This way you can power distant access points security cameras building access devices and industrial equipment in harsh environments where it's impractical to run electrical wires. The switch features full wire-speed forwarding rates auto-negotiates for network speeds and Auto-MDI/MDI-X eliminating the need for crossover cables. The switch also has two 100/1000 Ethernet SFP slots for network flexibility and scalability. You can extend your network over multimode or single-0mode fiber at distances up to 80 km depending on the SFP you choose.Extreme applications. Encased in an IP30-rated metal case this switch withstands extreme temperatures from -40degreeC to +75degreeC (-40degree F to +167degree F). Use it for Security and surveillance particularly to backhaul IP security camera data. Military applications especially in ships and other vehicles. Factory automation for controlling machinery PLCs motor drives sensors counters inspection cameras and packaging equipment. Oil and gas fields or remote equipment monitoring and control. Building automation for controlling HVAC and lighting systems. Maximize uptime. Advanced management features help minimize network downtime by enabling you to remotely diagnose and manage network problems. You'll also eliminate the need to send IT technicians on site - thus lowering costs. The switch is fully manageable through SNMP a Web browser Telnet or a console port. Control the bandwidth on each port individually and set up Quality of Service (QoS) priority queuing for critical applications. The switch supports port-based VLAN and IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging MAC-based trunking IP-multicast IGMP snooping rapid spanning tree for redundancy. Plus it has 802.1x port-based authentication for security. Advanced management features help minimize network downtime by enabling you to remotely diagnose and manage network problems. You'll also eliminate the need to send IT technicians on site - thus lowering costs. Fast failovers. For redundancy the switch has two DC power inputs. If one power source fails the switch automatically falls over to the second power source. It offers a 20 millisecond or less failover. In addition an alarm will alert you in case of a power failure. The switch also gives you maximum network flexibility Spanning Tree Protocol (STP/RSTP) Link Aggregation Control Protocol and a ring protocol. Installation options. The switch features redundant power inputs and includes DIN-rail and panel-mount kits. The power supplies (MDR-40-12 MDR-40-24 MDR-40-48 and SDR-120-48) are sold separately and will determine the amount of watts available for PoE operation. The switch also includes a serial cable (RJ-45/DB9) for the console connection. This product is covered by one or more of the following United States Patent Nos. 7457250 8902760 and/or 9019838.

OVERVIEW ? INDUSTRIAL MANAGED AND UNMANAGED GIGABIT ETHERNET SWITCHES DATA SHEET INTRODUCTION The Industrial Managed and Unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet Switches include unmanaged switches that provide four (4) copper RJ-45 or RJ-45 PoE ports and one (1) multi-rate SFP slot and managed switches that provide six (6) or eight (8) copper RJ-45 or RJ-45 PoE ports and two (2) or four (4) multi-rate SFP slots. Power over Ethernet The LIE401A, LIE1014A, LIE1080A and LIE1082A switches support Power over Ethernet compliant to the IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at standard on all copper ports. These switches can be used to power standard PoE PD devices with up to 30 watts per port along with the Ethernet data on standard Ethernet Cabling. Multi-rate SFP slots The benefit of having multi-rate SFP slots is to be able to use 100-Mbps and 1-Gbps SFP Modules for either multi- or single-mode in a mix and match as needed. If requirements change, just replace the SFP module and protect your switch investment. Power The switches are powered from 12- to 58-VDC. The PoE models need 48 VDC for 802.3af and a minimum of 53 VDC for 802.3at. Extended temperature range All models are tested and released for operating temperatures from -40° up to +75° Celsius. Management The switches offer powerful features including Layer 2 routing and management with all advanced filter and multicast algorithms needed today to easily prioritize, partition, and organize a reliable high-speed network. | |

Network Switch Buying Guide
Connect Multiple Devices to a Network and Route Data to Designated Devices
What is a network switch and what does it do?
A network switch connects devices to a local area network (LAN) and allows the devices to communicate over the network. For example, you can connect computers, printers and servers to the same network switch and route data between them. Unlike an Ethernet hub, which transmits the same data through every output, a network switch sends data only to the devices designated to receive it. This improves the efficiency and potential throughput of the network.
Are there different types of network switches?
There are two main types of network switches, unmanaged and managed. The essential difference is the capability to configure the operation of a managed switch to customize and optimize network traffic for specific applications.
Unmanaged Switches
- Offer plug-and-play functionality
- Switch operation cannot be modified
- CompSource offers desktop and rack-mount unmanaged switches
Managed Switches
- Provide the ability to manage, prioritize and monitor LAN traffic
- Offer one or more ways to modify switch operation
- CompSource offers smart managed switches that feature an RJ45 console port and command line interface (CLI)
Where do you place network switches?
Network switches are usually placed on a desk or table, mounted on a wall, or mounted in a rack. CompSource offers unmanaged desktop switches (with metal or plastic housing) and both unmanaged and managed rack-mount switches with metal housing and a built-in PDU (Gigabit Ethernet Switch PDU Combos).
What is a Gigabit Ethernet Switch PDU Combo?
CompSource offers an exclusive line of unmanaged and managed Gigabit Ethernet switches that have Power over Ethernet (PoE).
Factors to Consider
Does your application require a managed switch?
If your application involves controlling network traffic, you will need the features of a managed switch. The following are some examples of tasks that require a managed switch:
- Controlling access between departments within your LAN
- Running many bandwidth-intensive applications simultaneously
- Giving important data greater priority in your LAN
- Improving the performance of a busy network
- Implementing VoIP, wireless LANs or other advanced services
How many devices do you need to connect to your network?
Make sure you select a switch with enough Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbps) Ethernet ports for the devices you want to connect to your network. If you think you'll add more devices in the future, choose a switch that will give your network room to grow.
Do you need to connect multiple network switches?
If you plan to connect multiple network switches, look for models with SFP uplink ports (also known as Mini-GBIC ports). SFP uplink ports are connection points for SFP (small form-factor pluggable) modules that allow the switch to uplink to other switches using optical fiber cabling.
Power over Ethernet (PoE) uses existing network cables to power connected devices, such as VoIP phones, wireless access points and surveillance cameras. If you need this functionality, look for a switch with Gigabit Ethernet ports that support PoE. Make sure the power per port (in watts) and the total power budget of the PoE ports meet the needs of your electronic devices.
