1. Determine what you need

What type of photography will you be doing? (portraits, landscapes, macro, sports) 2. Megapixels are good and bad!

The more megapixels often equates to more noise in the picture. If you’re only printing images at a normal size then anything over 5 megapixels will be fine. 4. Optical Zoom is King

Not all ‘zooms’ are created equal. Digital zooms simply enlarge the pixels which makes it look more pixelated.
