Learn more about UPS General Purpose

What is an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)?

A UPS, or Uninterruptible Power Supply, is a device that provides a backup power source for critical systems in the event of a power outage or other disruption in the main power supply. It is typically used to protect computers, servers, and other electronic equipment from damage or data loss due to power failures or surges.

There are several benefits to using a UPS:

  1. Protection against power outages: A UPS provides a continuous, stable power supply during outages, allowing critical systems to continue operating until a generator or other backup power source can be activated.

  2. Protection against power surges: A UPS can also protect against power surges, which can cause damage to electronic equipment or data loss.

  3. Improved system uptime: By providing a stable power supply, a UPS can help to reduce downtime and improve the uptime of critical systems.

  4. Data protection: A UPS can help to protect against data loss by providing a temporary power source during an outage, allowing users to save their work and shut down systems properly.

  5. Increased system reliability: A UPS can improve the reliability of critical systems by providing a backup power source in case of power disruptions. This can be particularly important for businesses that rely on their computer systems to operate.

I've been an IT consultant for most of my life and one of our mantras is -fast, good, and cheap. you never get all three!- Somehow CompSource does it. I'd ordered a portable air conditioner from two other vendors and both strung me along and finally cancelled my order *after* charging me since they apparently couldn't either manage stock or suppliers properly. I eventually got my money back but I was worried up getting gouged with summer "on season" pricing. I found CompSource had a unit almost identical (different branding) and thought I'd give it one more try. To be honest it looked too good to be true. Price with shipping was over $100 less than the competition. I was shocked that it arrived almost as fast as I got the *tracking number*. I ordered on a Friday and got the FedEx tracking number on Monday from Rich Burson and had the unit Tuesday evening. This is a nearly 100lb 12K BTU beast that I would have expected to take at least a couple weeks to get. I sent a quick thank you email and who replies? The President of the company. Personally. Smart guy. I used to check Newegg first. Not anymore. Thanks! Mike
