The Xenon Ultra 1962g incorporates Honeywell's next generation of scanning capability - allowing retailers to stay productive and keep customer service as their top priority. Freedom of movement around POS terminals, conveyors, and customers is a continued challenge for today's retail associates. As more technology is packed into the streamlined modern-day POS station, free space is at a premium. The Xenon Ultra cordless scanner can help ensure that your associates' attention is kept on maximizing customer experience by eliminating wasted time managing cables and having more space for completing transactions. One scanner can now accept multiple power sources. Available with a battery-free supercapacitor or standard lithium-ion battery, both power options are also available in contactless orientations. The battery-free technology runs on supercapacitors instead of a battery and is capable of achieving a full charge in less than four minutes via the USB Port (under 60 seconds when using a powered USB port or external wall adapter). The Xenon Ultra 1962g-BF scanner typically provides at least 450 scans without recharging. This makes the scanner ideal for applications such as self-checkout or as a secondary scanner to a bioptic scanner. FEATURES AND BENEFITS In addition to a green-dot aimer to visibly enhance targeting and improve scan accuracy, the newly engineered and innovative scan platform empowers snappy scanning operations. The Xenon Ultra 1962 battery and battery-free are available in a premium contactless version, helping reduce the number of failed devices due to corrosion. Supercapacitors hold their charge for hours when fully charged. So operators who forget to place their scanner in the charger prior to break may not impact operations upon return. The Xenon Ultra 1962 scanner can accept a lithium-ion battery or a batteryfree supercapacitor, allowing enterprises to have mixed device pools and flexibility in their fleets. Two independently configurable recharge alerts remind the operator to place the scanner back into the base for charging, ensuring continuous operation. | |

These scanners come in corded and cordless options and the right one depends on the business and its needs. Corded scanners connect to the computer via a USB, serial, or specialized connection. This type is suitable for use with workstations such as cash registers. For inventory systems and other applications that require more mobility, a cordless scanner is the better option. These have a base station that connects to a computer and the scanner communicates with it wirelessly.
A Barcode Scanner With the Right Technology
A barcode scanner uses either laser, LED, or 2D technology. Laser devices, the most common type, scan items from a few inches to several feet away depending on the exact model. This option features a laser beam that shoots at an internal mirror. The mirror then moves in order for the laser to sweep across the barcode. LED scanners contain dozens of LED lights arranged in a row. Once shot at a barcode, these lights measure the voltage of ambient light in front of each bulb. Some scanners use a 2D camera to read the barcode. These feature hundreds of lights in multiple rows and when flashed on the barcode, they take a digital picture. These only work with 2D barcodes.

An Omnidirectional scanner works like a laser scanner. This type however, has additional mirrors and reflective devices that change one laser line into several. These lines run at different angles allowing for faster scan rates with less accurate aiming. Another benefit is they offer a wider reading area.
