Access All Your Serial and Network Devices from Anywhere in the World at Any Time This USB console server provides secure in-band (primary network) and out-of-band (alternate channel) remote access to serial- and network-connected routers, network switches, firewalls, PBX systems, UPS systems, PDUs and other devices. It offers reliable network connectivity with dual Gigabit primary and failover Ethernet ports, dual SFP ports for fiber optic network connections, and dual power supplies. You can use it in a wide variety of applications, including wiring closets, branch offices, kiosks, point-of-sale and other remote sites where a quick identification and resolution of network issues is imperative. You'll be able to manage a critical equipment outage quickly and remotely without making a costly and time-consuming physical visit to the site. Cellular Modem for Out-of-Band Access A multi-carrier 4G LTE cellular modem allows alternate remote access to the rack console in case the primary network goes down. The modem defaults to the Verizon network, but you can switch to AT&T, Rogers (Canada) and Telus (Canada) via the web GUI. This flexibility in networks saves you money by eliminating the need to buy a different modem for each carrier. Configurable port triggers and actions with SNMP, SMS and email alerts, such as pattern recognition and network connection. Simple and Flexible Accessibility The 16 serial RS-232 console ports are configured to use standard Cat5e/6 patch cable when connecting to Cisco devices. They integrate with industry-standard directory servers using TACACS+, RADIUS, LDAP and Kerberos authentication. Provides 16 Gb of internal NAND flash memory, which can be used for log storage and file storage, and is expandable with an SD card. Wi-Fi Diversity Antenna Included The 16-port serial console server includes Wi-Fi, which supports either Client or WAP mode. Just attach the included 2.4 GHz SMA Wi-Fi diversity antenna to the console server's main Wi-Fi port. For a stronger wireless signal, connect a second antenna (not included) to the server's auxiliary Wi-Fi port. Router/Gateway Each gateway can port forward to an unlimited number of locally networked hosts (computers, routers). This rack console also includes a built-in stateful firewall and embedded DHCP server to host a separate management LAN for critical traffic. The Utmost in Security to Keep Your Sensitive Data Private The B098-016-V supports the following security features and standards: PCI DSS 3.2, FIPS 140-2, SSL and SSH, stateful firewall, OpenVPN and IPSec VPN support. The embedded FIPS 140-2 OpenSSL cryptographic module is validated to meet FIPS 140-2 standards and has received Certificate #2473. PowerMan PDU and UPS Support This USB console server uses PowerMan for PDU and RPC management and Network UPS Tools for UPS system monitoring and management. It provides support for Tripp Lite and other power products, so you can remotely manage power to your connected equipment. USB Console Two USB 2.0 console ports allow connection to newer devices with USB console ports, such as Tripp Lite's wide variety of PDUs and UPS systems with WEBCARDLX or other LX Platform remote management cards. Compact Design for Convenient Mounting The heavy-duty steel housing comes with mounting brackets for 1U installation in an EIA-standard 19-inch rack. Its fanless form factor also allows desktop deployment on included rubber feet that help prevent the unit from sliding. | |

Switches, routers, and wireless access points perform very different functions in a network.
A computer network, or data network, is a digital telecommunications network which allows nodes to share resources. In computer networks, computing devices exchange data with each other using connections (data links) between nodes These data links are established over cable media such as wires or optic cables, or wireless media such as WiFi.Switches
Switches are the foundation of most business networks. A switch acts as a controller, connecting computers, printers, and servers to a network in a building or a campus.

There are two basic types of switches to choose from as part of your networking basics: managed and unmanaged.

Routers
Routers connect multiple networks together. They also connect computers on those networks to the Internet. Routers enable all networked computers to share a single Internet connection, which saves money.

An access point acts like an amplifier for your network. While a router provides the bandwidth, an access point extends that bandwidth so that the network can support many devices, and those devices can access the network from farther away.
But an access point does more than simply extend Wi-Fi. It can also give useful data about the devices on the network, provide proactive security, and serve many other practical purposes.
*Access points support different IEEE standards. Each standard is an amendment that was ratified over time. The standards operate on varying frequencies, deliver different bandwidth, and support different numbers of channels.
