    About Cisco

    Approach to Quality
Cisco's approach to quality can be condensed down to one phrase: "ensuring our customer success". The information contained in this section will help you to gain a better understanding of Cisco's Business Management System, which allows us to accomplish that success. Cisco's Business Management System is made up of two parts; the Quality Management System and the Environmental Management System.

    Cisco Fun Facts
Cisco Systems, Inc. is an American multinational technology conglomerate headquartered in San Jose, California, in the center of Silicon Valley, that develops, manufactures and sells networking hardware, telecommunications equipment and other high-technology services and products. Through its numerous acquired subsidiaries, such as OpenDNS, WebEx, Jabber and Jasper, Cisco specializes into specific tech markets, such as Internet of Things (IoT), domain security and energy management.

Cisco is the largest networking company in the world. The stock was added to the Dow Jones Industrial Average on June 8, 2009, and is also included in the S&P 500 Index, the Russell 1000 Index, NASDAQ-100 Index and the Russell 1000 Growth Stock Index.

Cisco Systems was founded in December 1984 by Leonard Bosack and Sandy Lerner, two Stanford University computer scientists, who pioneered the concept of a local area network (LAN) being used to connect geographically disparate computers over a multiprotocol router system. By the time the company went public in 1990, when it was listed on the NASDAQ, Cisco had a market capitalization of $224 million. Cisco was the most valuable company in the world by 2000, with a more than $500 billion market capitalization

    Learn more about Wireless Routers

Switches, routers, and wireless access points

There are two kinds of internet routers available: wired and wireless.

When you sign up for a new broadband deal, you'll receive a wireless model rather than a wired one from your internet service provider (ISP).

That's because wired ones have become outdated and tend to only be used by those who want to get online via an Ethernet cable.

Wireless routers allow you to do that, too, and most come with at least four Ethernet ports for connecting PCs, TVs and other in-home gadgets to the internet — but they also let you connect to a Wi-Fi network with other devices.

    What is a wireless router?

A wireless router is an electronic device that works as a router — meaning it sends data from the internet cable to a device — and as a wireless access point so this data can be shared through radio signals instead of another cable.

How does a Wi-Fi router work?

Plug your phone or cable line into your router and data will be sent through the connection to the router.

The Wi-Fi router then takes this data and converts it into radio signals, which are then picked up by devices with Wi–Fi capability such as laptops, tablets, smartphones and games consoles.

How do devices connect to a Wi-Fi router?

To connect to your router, you'll be prompted to enter a password on the device you're using. This is usually supplied by your ISP and can be found on the bottom of the router.

This tends to be a series of numbers and letters, designed to offer heightened security and protect your network from being used by others illegally.

    What is a wireless router?

As well as being able to provide wireless access to the web and other services on smartphones, tablets and PCs, you can use your router to make calls over the internet, saving on expensive phone bills. You can also use it to access digital TV, using products such as Apple TV, Amazon's Firestick, Google's Chromecast or a smart TV.

    Wireless networking

Wireless networking is a method by which homes, telecommunications networks and business installations avoid the costly process of introducing cables into a building, or as a connection between various equipment locations.
CompSource will educate and help make this process enjoyable and easy.

Whether you're planning on using your network for basic home tasks or enterprise level security. You can tell our trained sales professionals your needs, and we'll make custom recommendations to suit your specifications and budget. Our reps have extensive knowledge and love to share. I was wanting a new 17.3" screen with light up keyboard for my work. I bought an ACER which unfortunately in long run we found out the 4th generation processor couldn't handle the Windows Pro 10 version which is what I needed for my line of work. I had spent 10 hours with IT helpdesks at ACER, my company, and Windows to try to get my encrypted computer to accept the upgrade to PRO. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I had to get a 6th generation processor instead. The guys at CompSource were so helpful in finding one for me and expediting the exchange I was up and running in no time. Believe me, after sending thousands of dollars in computers across the country to get the old one wiped and returned and getting a new one to replace and nothing I repeat nothing went awry. I'm up and running again with PRO! I would only buy from CompSource. No hassle and very knowledgable!!! Laura Travelling Circus
