General Information:

The Edgecore ECS4125-10P switch is a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet access switch with two 10G uplink ports. The switch is an ideal 2.5 Gigabit PoE access switch for SMB, enterprise, and campus networks. The ECS4125-10P switch is packed with features that bring high availability, comprehensive security, robust multicast control, and advance QoS to the network edge, while maintaining simple management. The switch also supports the most advance IPv6 management, IPv6 security, and IPv6 multicast control in accordance with the growth of IPv6 deployment

Key Features and Benefits | PoE++ Support for Wi-Fi 6 APs

The ECS4125-10P can provide up to 60 W of power to attached devices with a total power budget of 240 W.

The switch can deliver up to 30 W on 8 ports, or 60 W on 4 ports.

PoE eliminates the need for individual power sources for devices in the network, saving on costs for power cables and avoiding power outlet availability issues. If the power demand exceeds the switch's maximum power budget, ports can be prioritized to receive power.

Multi-Gig Performance and Scalability

The Edgecore ECS4125-10P is a high-performance 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Layer 2+ managed switch with 80 Gbps switching capacity. The switch delivers wire-speed switching performance on all 2.5 Gigabit ports, taking full advantage of existing high-performance 2.5 Gigabit 11ax Wi-Fi APs etc, significantly improving the responsiveness of applications and file transfer times.

The two 10G SFP+ ports provide uplink flexibility, allowing the insertion of fiber or copper gigabit transceivers, to create up to 20 Gbps high-speed uplinks to service provider, corporate, or campus networks, reducing bottlenecks and increasing the performance of the access network.

Continuous Availability

The IEEE 802.1w Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol provides a loop-free network and redundant links to the core network with rapid convergence, to ensure faster recovery from failed links, enhancing overall network stability and reliability.

The IEEE 802.1s Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol runs STP per VLAN base, providing Layer 2 load sharing on redundant links up to 64 instances.

The ECS4125-10P supports IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). It increases bandwidth by automatically aggregating several physical links together as a logical trunk and offers load balancing and fault tolerance for uplink connections.

The ECS4125-10P supports G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection Switching with the ability for the network to detect and recover from incidents without impacting users, meeting the most demanding quality and availability requirements. Rapid recovery time when problems do occur is as low as 50ms

Enhanced Security

Port security limits the total number of devices from using a switch port and protects against MAC flooding attacks.

IEEE 802.1X port-based or MAC-based access control ensures all users are authorized before being granted access to the network. When a user is authenticated, the VLAN, QoS and security policy are automatically applied the port where the user is connected, otherwise the port is grouped in a guest VLAN with limited access.

DHCP snooping allows a switch to protect a network from rogue DHCP servers that offer invalid IP addresses.

IP Source Guard prevents users from using IP addresses that were not assigned to them.

Access Control Lists (ACLs) can be used to restrict access to sensitive network resources by denying packets based on source and destination MAC addresses, IP addresses, or TCP/UDP ports. ACLs are hardware supported, so switching performance is not compromised.

    Network Switch Buying Guide

Connect Multiple Devices to a Network and Route Data to Designated Devices

What is a network switch and what does it do?

    NSUG24C2 ethernet switch

Are there different types of network switches?

There are two main types of network switches, unmanaged and managed. The essential difference is the capability to configure the operation of a managed switch to customize and optimize network traffic for specific applications.

    Unmanaged Switches

    Managed Switches

Where do you place network switches?

Network switches are usually placed on a desk or table, mounted on a wall, or mounted in a rack. CompSource offers unmanaged desktop switches (with metal or plastic housing) and both unmanaged and managed rack-mount switches with metal housing and a built-in PDU (Gigabit Ethernet Switch PDU Combos).

What is a Gigabit Ethernet Switch PDU Combo?

CompSource offers an exclusive line of unmanaged and managed Gigabit Ethernet switches that have Power over Ethernet (PoE).

    Factors to Consider

Does your application require a managed switch?

If your application involves controlling network traffic, you will need the features of a managed switch. The following are some examples of tasks that require a managed switch:

    • Controlling access between departments within your LAN
    • Running many bandwidth-intensive applications simultaneously
    • Giving important data greater priority in your LAN
    • Improving the performance of a busy network
    • Implementing VoIP, wireless LANs or other advanced services

How many devices do you need to connect to your network?

Make sure you select a switch with enough Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbps) Ethernet ports for the devices you want to connect to your network. If you think you'll add more devices in the future, choose a switch that will give your network room to grow.

how many devices do you need to connect to your network

Do you need to connect multiple network switches?

If you plan to connect multiple network switches, look for models with SFP uplink ports (also known as Mini-GBIC ports). SFP uplink ports are connection points for SFP (small form-factor pluggable) modules that allow the switch to uplink to other switches using optical fiber cabling.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) uses existing network cables to power connected devices, such as VoIP phones, wireless access points and surveillance cameras. If you need this functionality, look for a switch with Gigabit Ethernet ports that support PoE. Make sure the power per port (in watts) and the total power budget of the PoE ports meet the needs of your electronic devices.
