General Information:

The AAXA P400 Mini HD Projector is a short-throw mini projector that delivers true native 1080P (1920x1080) performance and operates on both battery and DC power. At its heart the P400 incorporates premium short-throw optics mated to a high performance Liquid-Crystal on Silicon imager (LCOS). This technology is vastly superior to most single-LCD projectors in terms of optics quality, image performance, and picture uniformity. With a premium Luminus 30,000 hour LED light source the P400 produces a bright 400 Lumens at just 30 watts and delivers a 100" image at a distance of just 63" (0.7 throw ratio).

1080P Native Resolution

The AAXA P400 delivers true native 1920x1080 pixel resolution without upscaling or marketing gimmicks. True 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution is made possible through advances in pico optics and a high density liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) imager. These advances enable the P400's high-definition resolution in a small, portable form-factor.

A Better Projector

The P400 with its LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) imager and short-throw optics distinguishes itself from other mini projectors in its class. The true native resolution of the P400 is 1920x1080 and is achieved with no upscaling or resolution gimmicks. The P400 produces excellent picture uniformity and eliminates the focus uniformity issues found in many low cost projectors that result in pixels and text smeared in certain areas. LCOS technology is the same technology that has been used in theaters / cinemas for decades - unlike single-LCD projectors that cannot achieve the picture quality for cinema use. Finally the P400 features short-throw optics enabling a much larger screen in limited spaces, something that cannot be achieved due to the physics of most single-LCD projectors.

Short Throw Optics

The AAXA P400 features a revolutionary short-throw LCOS optical system. Short throw optics produce a large distortion free image even in confined spaces meaning that at just 63" (of distance from the screen) the P400 can produce a vivid 100" image (0.7 throw ratio). Many projectors especially single-panel LCD projectors need more than triple the distance to project a 100" image. Short throw optical systems are complex and expensive and are not achievable in low cost single-LCD type projectors which often feature "long throw" optics (more than 2.0) that make viewing in confined spaces difficult.

30,000 Hour Light Source

The AAXA P400 Mini Projector employs a full solid-state LED light-source by Luminus. The advantages of solid-state technology include durability, long-life (30,000 hours), and bright vivid colors. Unlike competitors who use off-brand LEDs sourced from commercial lighting applications, AAXA Technologies partners with Luminus Devices™ a leader in the projection LED business. AAXA incorporates cinema class LEDS in its projection products.

    Learn more about Projectors

The television screen seems to be getting larger and larger. These days you can easily find a high quality and reasonably priced 65-inch TV, and some of the best TVs you can buy are also quite reasonably priced. But, if you want a true cinematic experience, a projector is the way to go. Projector screens easily reach 120+ inches, and some projectors now support 4K UHD resolution and cover impressively wide color gamuts, just like their 4K TV counterparts. In a true home theater the difference between a large screen TV and a projector are simply a different experience all together and the projector becomes the thing that makes that impression last.

We also install TV's and Projectors in conference rooms. There are solid arguments for both appliances to be used in different scenarios. Often times this decision can be made simply by the size of the room or if the business wants a whiteboard functionality etc. We often prefer Large Format TV's or Touch Screen TV's for conference rooms.

So should you buy a projector? Well, projectors are a bit more complicated than TVs and require a little extra work and consideration, but the best projectors will bring your home theater to life. There are major factors that will determine whether a projector is right for you.

Can you control the light in the room?
While many projectors have much brighter lumens than previous models. You still have to have the ability to control your lighting as well as block light from outside.
Is there space in your area for a screen?
You are going to need both the space to install a screen and the depth to have the projector far enough away from the screen to project on your screen. First you can mount a manual or motorized drop-down screen from your ceiling. You could also mount a fixed screen to your wall, so long as you're willing to sacrifice the space. You could also paint your wall with a special projection-screen paint.
Do you have an A/V receiver?
A good A/V receiver is an important part of any home theater, and because projectors often have fewer connection ports than TVs, they are perfect for projector setups. If you plan to connect just a single device to your projector and have a sound system you can connect to it, be that a Blu-ray player or game console, then you don't necessarily need any additional equipment. But since most projectors have only one HDMI input, you'll need an A/V receiver to connect multiple devices. An HDMI switcher is also an option, but an A/V receiver is better: it will also provide sound to your speaker system you definitely want a sound system, projectors have very weak speakers, if they have them at all.
