HPE Aruba Networking AP-655 (EG) Tri Radio 4x4 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6E Internal Antennas Campus AP

The HPE Aruba Networking 650 Series Wi-Fi 6E Access Points are designed to take advantage of the 6 GHz band using three radios for comprehensive tri-band coverage. With 6GHz, wireless capacity is more than doubled–allowing enterprises to meet today’s needs and plan for future growth. HPE Aruba Networking Wi-Fi 6E APs allow countries to take advantage of Wi-Fi 6E once it is approved in country via automated notification and easy deployment of 6 GHz regulatory rules. The HPE Aruba Networking 650 Series APs delivers a maximum aggregate 7.8 Gbps data rate for higher throughput and faster speeds for fixed, low-power indoor or standard power use. With up to seven 160 MHz channels, these series increases performance for low-latency, bandwidth-hungry applications. The HPE Aruba’s ultra tri-band filtering reduces interference between 5 GHz and 6 GHz and prevents gaps in channel coverage. To provide high availability, these series includes dual port hitless failover for ethernet and power.
Three radios extend the benefits of Wi-Fi 6 to the 6GHz band – with 7.8 Gbps maximum aggregate throughput.
Wider channels and less interference deliver faster speeds to the needs of low-latency, bandwidth hungry applications like high-definition video and augmented reality/virtual reality.
Unique filtering capabilities remove gaps in coverage and reduce interference between the 5GHz and 6GHz bands.
High availability with hitless failover for ethernet and power provide business continuity.
Automated notification and easy deployment of 6 GHz regulatory tables to allow countries to take advantage of Wi-Fi 6E once it is approved in country.
Two hardware variants for 1) internal antennas or 2) connectorized antennas (external) address a wide variety of  environments.

General Information:

Flagship offering with the performance to meet growing enterprise needs with Wi-Fi 6E

By leveraging the 6 GHz band, Aruba 650 Series Campus APs delivers peak performance and far greater capacity than previous generations of Wi-Fi. With up to 1200 MHz of new channels, capacity is nearly tripled - so you can meet growing demand due to bandwidth-hungry video, increasing numbers of client and IoT devices and growth in cloud. Unique to Aruba, the 650 Series includes ultra tri-band filtering to minimize channel interference and dual configurable 5 Gbps ethernet ports to eliminate coverage gaps, provide greater resiliency, and deliver fast, secure connectivity.

MORE CAPACITY AND WIDER CHANNELS

The 650 Series APs are designed to take advantage of the 6GHz band, which translates into far greater speeds, wider channels for multi-gigabit traffic, and less interference. The three 4x4 MIMO radios of the platform deliver a combined peak datarate of up to 7.8Gbps.

Advantages of 6GHz

Wi-Fi 6E provides up to 1200MHz in the 6GHz band for higher throughput and improved application performance. With up to seven 160MHz channels, Wi-Fi 6E can better support lowlatency, bandwidth hungry applications like high-definition video and artificial reality/virtual reality applications. Only Wi-Fi 6E capable devices can use the 6GHz band so there is no interference or slowdowns due to legacy devices.

Device class support

For operation in the 6GHz band, the 650 Series APs are part of the low power indoor (LPI) device class. This fixed indooronly class uses lower power levels and does not require an Automated Frequency Coordination service (AFC) to manage incumbent outdoor services which is required for standard class APs.

LESS INTERFERENCE

650 Series Access Points include Aruba's ultra tri-band filtering, which enables enterprises to take advantage of the entire 5GHz and 6GHz bands without experiencing interference, while operating on any channel in either band concurrently. Since there is only 50MHz between 5GHz and the 6GHz, without advanced filtering, enterprises would likely experience problems between the bands and would therefore be limited in the number of channels available. By applying advanced filtering capabilities, enterprises can take full use of available spectrum without creating coverage gaps or islands.

BUSINESS CONTINUITY

The Series 650 APs provide high availability with two HPE Smart Rate ethernet ports for hitless failover for both data and power. Configurable to 1, 2.5, or 5 Gbps, these dual ports provide business continuity for mission critical applications.

Learn more about Wireless Access Points

Switches, routers, and wireless access points

Switches, routers, and wireless access points perform very different functions in a network.

A computer network, or data network, is a digital telecommunications network which allows nodes to share resources. In computer networks, computing devices exchange data with each other using connections (data links) between nodes These data links are established over cable media such as wires or optic cables, or wireless media such as WiFi.

    Switches

Switches are the foundation of most business networks. A switch acts as a controller, connecting computers, printers, and servers to a network in a building or a campus.

Switches allow devices on your network to communicate with each other, as well as with other networks, creating a network of shared resources. Through information sharing and resource allocation, switches save money and increase productivity.

There are two basic types of switches to choose from as part of your networking basics: managed and unmanaged.

    • An unmanaged switch works out of the box but can't be configured. Home-networking equipment typically offers unmanaged switches.
    • A managed switch can be configured. You can monitor and adjust a managed switch locally or remotely, giving you greater control over network traffic and access.

    Routers

Routers connect multiple networks together. They also connect computers on those networks to the Internet. Routers enable all networked computers to share a single Internet connection, which saves money.

A router acts a dispatcher. It analyzes data being sent across a network, chooses the best route for data to travel, and sends it on its way.

Routers connect your business to the world, protect information from security threats, and can even decide which computers receive priority over others.

Beyond those basic networking functions, routers come with additional features to make networking easier or more secure. Depending on your needs, for example, you can choose a router with a firewall, a virtual private network (VPN), or an Internet Protocol (IP) communications system.

    Access points

An access point* allows devices to connect to the wireless network without cables. A wireless network makes it easy to bring new devices online and provides flexible support to mobile workers.

An access point acts like an amplifier for your network. While a router provides the bandwidth, an access point extends that bandwidth so that the network can support many devices, and those devices can access the network from farther away.

But an access point does more than simply extend Wi-Fi. It can also give useful data about the devices on the network, provide proactive security, and serve many other practical purposes.

*Access points support different IEEE standards. Each standard is an amendment that was ratified over time. The standards operate on varying frequencies, deliver different bandwidth, and support different numbers of channels.

    Wireless networking

Wireless networking is a method by which homes, telecommunications networks and business installations avoid the costly process of introducing cables into a building, or as a connection between various equipment locations.
CompSource will educate and help make this process enjoyable and easy.
