General Information:

The Cisco SPA525G2 5-Line IP Phone with Color Display (Figure 1) is an excellent choice for businesses that require an enhanced user experience with a hosted IP telephony service, an IP private branch exchange (PBX), or a large-scale IP Centrex deployment. Part of the Cisco Small Business Series, the SPA525G2 uses industry-leading SPA voice over IP (VoIP) technology from Cisco, with high-quality hardware providing additional connectivity via Bluetooth, PoE (802.3af), or a Wireless-G client (802.11g).

Standard Cisco SPA525G2 features include five active lines, VLAN-capable dual switched Ethernet ports, 802.3af PoE support, a 3.2-inch QVGA color display, a full-duplex, high-quality speakerphone, a Bluetooth interface, a Wireless-G (802.11g) client, a 2.5-mm stereo headset port, and a USB 2.0 host port. Each line can be configured independently to use a unique phone number (or extension) or can use a shared number that is assigned to multiple phones. The power supply for the SPA525G2 is sold separately. The optional SPA500S 32-button attendant console adds up to 64 buttons for receptionist positions.

The Cisco SPA525G2 IP Phone further improves the user experience with VPN and video surveillance applications. It includes an embedded AnyConnect Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) VPN client that allows remote users to securely connect to their phone system and make calls over the Internet, without the need for additional hardware. The SPA525G2 also provides users the ability to view video feeds from Cisco WVC2300 and PVC2300 Business Internet Video Cameras, allowing users to quickly see different locations around the business in order to improve physical security. The SPA525G2 is part of the Cisco SPA500 Series IP Phones, a robust portfolio of small business phones providing a rich user experience that includes HD voice, on-phone applications, and intuitive menu options.

The Cisco SPA525G2 provides encrypted signaling, media, and provisioning information, using state-of-the-art technologies such as Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) over Transport Layer Security (TLS), Secure Real Time Protocol (SRTP), and HTTPS to secure communications between the phone and service provider. Cisco SPA Secure Remote Provisioning provides a highly secure mechanism for the service provider to remotely manage the phone/user configuration and software upgrades.

The Cisco SPA525G2 IP Phone can also be used with productivity-enhancing features such as VoiceView Express and Cisco XML applications when connected to the Cisco Unified Communication 500 Series in SPCP mode.

    About Cisco

    Approach to Quality
Cisco's approach to quality can be condensed down to one phrase: "ensuring our customer success". The information contained in this section will help you to gain a better understanding of Cisco's Business Management System, which allows us to accomplish that success. Cisco's Business Management System is made up of two parts; the Quality Management System and the Environmental Management System.

    Cisco Fun Facts
Cisco Systems, Inc. is an American multinational technology conglomerate headquartered in San Jose, California, in the center of Silicon Valley, that develops, manufactures and sells networking hardware, telecommunications equipment and other high-technology services and products. Through its numerous acquired subsidiaries, such as OpenDNS, WebEx, Jabber and Jasper, Cisco specializes into specific tech markets, such as Internet of Things (IoT), domain security and energy management.

Cisco is the largest networking company in the world. The stock was added to the Dow Jones Industrial Average on June 8, 2009, and is also included in the S&P 500 Index, the Russell 1000 Index, NASDAQ-100 Index and the Russell 1000 Growth Stock Index.

Cisco Systems was founded in December 1984 by Leonard Bosack and Sandy Lerner, two Stanford University computer scientists, who pioneered the concept of a local area network (LAN) being used to connect geographically disparate computers over a multiprotocol router system. By the time the company went public in 1990, when it was listed on the NASDAQ, Cisco had a market capitalization of $224 million. Cisco was the most valuable company in the world by 2000, with a more than $500 billion market capitalization

    Learn more about IP Phones

What are IP Phones / IP Telephones?

An IP phone, also called a VoIP phone, is a phone that uses internet protocol, rather than the circuit-switched PSTN. An IP phone connects through an Ethernet cable, rather than a phone jack, to the internet, where is connects to the IP address of either the VoIP provider or the hosted PBX provider. From a user's perspective, it works just like a traditional phone, but better.

PSTN phones and VoIP phones are not compatible, but you can adapt a PSTN phone to the internet with an analog telephone adapter. If you do this, although you'll be able to make calls, you won't be able to take advantage of many of the features of VoIP. It may be acceptable to use traditional phones and an ATA at home, but in a business context, it's generally recommended that when you upgrade to VoIP, you get new IP phones.

IP phones come in a variety of different shapes and with a variety of operating systems. Some look and feel like traditional business phones, others have more in common with an Apple or Android tablet. Another style of IP phone is a conference phone, which has a speaker on top and has three microphones around it. A telepresence IP phone is more like a miniature television studio, with one or more cameras and one or more screens of various sizes. Videoconference phones encode and decode into video formats, rather than audio formats, but the method they do it is internet protocol, so a video phone is an IP phone. Software, like Skype, can also be an IP phone, although usually it's just thought of as a softphone.

IP phones are able to get their power over an Ethernet cable, rather than using the power supply. This is called PoE. PoE is great for wiring phones where there is no power available. Conversely, many IP phones have Wi-Fi, in cases where you can get power, but there is no easily available internet jack. Some high end VoIP phones have Bluetooth, so you can connect a headset, and the phone can be anywhere. IP phones also have Ethernet pass-through, meaning that you can plug one end into a router and the other end into a computer; some IP phones have gigabit pass-through, while some only have high-speed pass through.

The two largest makers of IP phones are Polycom and Cisco, although other brands, like Yealink, Konftel and Grandstream are three of their largest competitors. No one brand of IP phone, or one model, is truly superior, what matters most is if the model is right for you and in your price range. Along those same lines, the most expensive phones are capable of handling many lines, but the same phone that is appropriate for a receptionist may also have features that a powerful executive wants

This is good news for businesses and end users because it means that PBX vendors can't force you into locking in with their proprietary software or hardware. Phone manufacturers can produce SIP phones, and as long as the phones can support the SIP standard, then your investment is protected, and the phones can be used with virtually any SIP-based IP PBX

The tv was delivered today. Want to let you know it is great and that Jeff for assuring me I would be completely satisfied. I had several conversations with competitors who would talk down on the internet sales of this Samsung TV UN65HU9000/UHD pack/H7501 bundle. Many who stated if the price is low or looks to good to be true, the seller has poor service. Well, I hate to disappoint them, because the service, shipping and of course the price was TERRIFIC. I will definitely buy from COMPSOURCE in the near future with any of my electronic needs. THANK YOU COMPSOURCE, JEFF YOU ROCK! Linda
