HighPoint's SSD710x Series are the industry's fastest PCIe Gen3 4-Port M.2 NVMe RAID controllers, and are capable of delivering up to 14,000MB/s of sustained transfer performance. The compact single-width, full-height controller cards can directly host up to four M.2 NVMe SSDs of any form factor (2242/2260/2280/22110) in one or more RAID 0, 1, 10 and JBOD configurations. Universal Compatibility The SSD710x Series can be installed into any computing platform with an industry-standard PCIe 4.0 or 3.0 x16 slot. Like all SSD7000 series NVMe RAID controllers, the SSD710x Series does not require a host platform with Bifurcation support, and is not dependent on a specific brand or model of motherboard. Cross Sync RAID Technology Customers can link two SSD710x controllers to act as a single storage device. Cross-Sync technology can effectively double available storage capacity and deliver transfer speeds up to 28,000MB/s! Cross-Sync RAID Technology has been sucessfully integrated into a variety of professional grade NVMe-based storage solutions for 8K/16 uncompressed video content and Industrial applications, including large-scale LED projection, color grading and correction systems, and rendering projects for game development, animation, VR and simulations. Comprehensive RAID Storage Solution The SSD710x Series Controllers can be used to configure bootable RAID or single NVMe SSD configurations for Windows and Linux systems. Optional UEFI downloads and complete installation guides are available for each supported platform. Ultra-Efficient, Low-Noise Hyper Cooling Solution | Complete Fan Control SSD710x Series NVMe RAID controllers now feature Fan Control via the WebGUI Management software. Customers can adjust fan-speed using the SHI tab, and select from 3 speed settings. In addition, the fan can be completely powered off for silent operation. Administrators can monitor temperatures of each NVMe SSD using SHI, which can track the state of individual devices via SMART attributes, and adjust fan speeds to keep temperatures in check. The SSD7104F employs HighPoint's 2nd Generation Low-Noise Hyper-Cooling solution ensures hosted NVMe SSD's consistently operate within their recommended temperature thresholds, even under sustained heavy I/O, by combining a full length anodized aluminum heat sink with an ultra-durable, near-silent fan, and high-conductivity thermal pad. This innovative, ultra- efficient cooling system rapidly transfers waste heat away from critical NVMe and controller componentry, without introducing unwanted distraction into your work environment. | |

Learn more about SCSI/RAID Controllers
What is a RAID controller?
A RAID (redundant array of independent disks) combines multiple physical drives into one virtual storage device that offers more storage and, in most cases, fault tolerance so that data can be recovered even if one of the physical disks fails. A RAID controller is a hardware device or software program used to manage hard disk drives (HDDs) or solid-state drives (SSDs) in a computer or storage array so they work as a logical unit.A controller offers a level of abstraction between an operating system and the physical drives. A RAID controller presents groups to applications and operating systems as logical units for which data protection schemes can be defined. Because the controller has the ability to access multiple copies of data on multiple physical devices, it has the ability to improve performance and protect data in the event of a system crash. There are different levels of raid as well, typically the higher the number, the more redundancy your data will have. In some cases 1-2 hard drives can go down before you will be impacted! Another caveat with RAID is the ability to actually speed up your hard drive performance. The more drives you have in your array the more redundant and faster your I/O will become!
In hardware-based RAID, a physical controller is used to manage the RAID array. The controller can take the form of a PCI or PCI Express (PCIe) card, which is designed to support a specific drive format such as SATA or SCSI. (Some RAID controllers can also be integrated with the motherboard.) A RAID controller may also be software-only, using the hardware resources of the host system. Software-based RAID generally provides similar functionality to hardware-based RAID, but its performance is typically less than that of the hardware versions.
I had an overall great experience with this company. I will be using them again in the future. It took the stress out of holiday shopping. AnonymousMore Reviews
