TL-D800S JBOD storage enclosure allows you to back up and expand your QNAP NAS, Windows® and Ubuntu® computers and servers. The TL-D800S features eight 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s drive bays and comes with a QXP PCIe card for connecting the enclosure using a SFF-8088 (or SFF-8644) cable. It provides reliable read/write performance for smooth storage and backup tasks. Lockable hard drive trays prevent accidental drive removal. SFF-8088 (or SFF-8644) connection cable supports four SATA 6Gb/s channels per cable (24Gb/s in total) and provides faster data transfer speeds than eSATA and USB. Easy to use. QNAP NAS and PC can both use utility software to monitor, obtain, and manage JBOD information. High-performing TL SATA JBOD The TL SATA JBOD supports multi-lane SATA 6Gb/s transfer, and each SATA lane directly connects to a single SATA drive to help improve performance. With the 1-1 high-speed channel, the TL SATA JBOD delivers excellent transfer performance. Flexible Storage Configuration and Management The TL-D800S provides software-controlled storage configuration for greater management flexibility. You can configure RAID and monitor JBOD enclosure and disk health with Storage & Snapshots when connected to a QTS or QuTS hero NAS, or with the QNAP JBOD Manager utility when connected to a computer. Use the Storage & Snapshots Manager in QTS or QuTS hero to configure the TL-D800S as a storage enclosure for your QNAP NAS. The NAS expansion storage mode supports various NAS functions, including storage pools and snapshots. With TL-D800S, you can easily expand storage capacity. The QNAP JBOD Manager is a desktop utility for monitoring the TL-D800S on Windows® and Ubuntu® computers. You can quickly obtain disk statuses, JBOD information and health, view fan rotation speed, and check for firmware version updates. What you need to know You can connect your TL-D800S to Windows® and Ubuntu® computers through SFF-8088 (or SFF-8644) high-speed cable and use built-in utility to manage RAID configuration. I've been an IT consultant for most of my life and one of our mantras is -fast, good, and cheap. you never get all three!- Somehow CompSource does it. I'd ordered a portable air conditioner from two other vendors and both strung me along and finally cancelled my order *after* charging me since they apparently couldn't either manage stock or suppliers properly. I eventually got my money back but I was worried up getting gouged with summer "on season" pricing. I found CompSource had a unit almost identical (different branding) and thought I'd give it one more try. To be honest it looked too good to be true. Price with shipping was over $100 less than the competition. I was shocked that it arrived almost as fast as I got the *tracking number*. I ordered on a Friday and got the FedEx tracking number on Monday from Rich Burson and had the unit Tuesday evening. This is a nearly 100lb 12K BTU beast that I would have expected to take at least a couple weeks to get. I sent a quick thank you email and who replies? The President of the company. Personally.
