High-Performance 8-Channel PCIe Gen3 M.2 NVMe Connectivity Solution R1000 Series NVMe HBAs are fully independent, stand-alone NVMe storage solutions for PCIe Gen3 platforms; they are not tied to a specific motherboard, chipset or operating system, can be easily integrated into any motherboard or server/workstation platform with a free PCIe 3.0/4.0 x16 and are capable of supporting off-the-shelf M.2 NVMe SSDs of any capacity. The Rocket 1108 is the industry's fastest PCIe Gen3 NVMe connectivity HBA. The eight independent device ports can support off-the-shelf M.2 SSDs of any capacity. Built-in High-speed, Intelligent Switch Chipset The Rocket 1108 NVMe HBA's performance-focused hardware architecture leverages intelligent PCIe switch technology to ensure maximum transfer bandwidth is available for each device port, at all times. Up to x4 lanes of host bandwidth are allocated to each M.2 NVMe SSD, as needed. Native, In-Box NVMe Device Driver Support HighPoint NVMe HBAs were designed with simplicity in mind. All you need is a little patience and a screwdriver; just install the M.2 SSD's and plug in the card! Rocket 1000 Series HBAs are natively supported by all major Windows and macOS operating system platforms, VMware ESXi and current distributions of Linux. You won't need to juggle a series of device drivers, install a complex software suite, or master a specialized management interface. Your NVMe SSDs will be automatically recognized, and can be prepped and mounted using the operating system's standard tool set. Ultra-High-Performance NVMe Storage Solution Rocket 1000 Series NVMe HBA's can host RAID arrays created using the operating systems built-in storage management tools. macOS Disk Utility and Windows Disk Management can configure RAID 0 arrays using 2 or more NVMe SSDs. Supports any Off-the-Shelf M.2 NVMe SSD | Any Capacity, Any Generation & Any Form-Factor.. Rocket 1000 series M.2 ports are capable of supporting any industry standard off- the-shelf M.2 NVMe SSD NAND Form Factor: Single & Double-Sided M.2 Form Factor: 2280, 2260, 2242 Low-Noise Hyper Cooling Solution The Rocket 1108 employs our new ultra- efficient, Hyper-Cooling solution designed specifically for large M.2 configurations. The Hyper-Cooling system combines a high-conductivity thermal pad with an anodized aluminum heatsink equipped with dual built-in, low noise fans. This design ensures the M.2 SSDs, NVMe chipset and RAID componentry remain cool, even under heavy load, while minimizing the risk of distraction in the work environment. | |

Learn more about SCSI/RAID Controllers
What is a RAID controller?
A RAID (redundant array of independent disks) combines multiple physical drives into one virtual storage device that offers more storage and, in most cases, fault tolerance so that data can be recovered even if one of the physical disks fails. A RAID controller is a hardware device or software program used to manage hard disk drives (HDDs) or solid-state drives (SSDs) in a computer or storage array so they work as a logical unit.A controller offers a level of abstraction between an operating system and the physical drives. A RAID controller presents groups to applications and operating systems as logical units for which data protection schemes can be defined. Because the controller has the ability to access multiple copies of data on multiple physical devices, it has the ability to improve performance and protect data in the event of a system crash. There are different levels of raid as well, typically the higher the number, the more redundancy your data will have. In some cases 1-2 hard drives can go down before you will be impacted! Another caveat with RAID is the ability to actually speed up your hard drive performance. The more drives you have in your array the more redundant and faster your I/O will become!
In hardware-based RAID, a physical controller is used to manage the RAID array. The controller can take the form of a PCI or PCI Express (PCIe) card, which is designed to support a specific drive format such as SATA or SCSI. (Some RAID controllers can also be integrated with the motherboard.) A RAID controller may also be software-only, using the hardware resources of the host system. Software-based RAID generally provides similar functionality to hardware-based RAID, but its performance is typically less than that of the hardware versions.
Your site is excellant. It is easy to use, quick transition from one page to the next even using a 56k modem. I was also impressed with the level of security. It removed all anxiety about making an online purchase. gofishwyMore Reviews
