Features

Portable Close-Coupled Rack Cooling System Improves Equipment Performance
Tripp Lite's SRXCOOL12KA is a portable, compact, self-contained AC cooling unit for server racks. It is designed for areas with heat-sensitive equipment that facility air conditioning can't reach. By cooling small IT installations or spot cooling individual racks in larger installations, you can protect mission-critical systems without relying on less efficient building-level HVAC or sinking money into costly HVAC upgrades.

Designed Specifically for 230V SAA/RCM Markets
This SmartRack® server cooling system is fitted with an IEC Type I power plug and meets Standards Association of Australia (SAA) and Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM) approval for use in Australia and surrounding markets. It is ideal for adding discrete 24/7 cooling in IT and network closets, data centers, edge installations, MDFs, IDFs and small server rooms.

12,000 BTU of Cooling Power Protects Your Equipment Against Hazardous High Heat
This data center cooling unit pumps 12,000 BTU (3.5kW) of cooling into your IT environment to help prevent shutdowns, malfunctions and other failures caused by overheating or fluctuating temperatures. It uses environmentally friendly R410A refrigerant to comply with worldwide standards. An easy-to-read control panel with push buttons and diagnostic LEDs provides vital operating information at a glance. A dual-digit LCD screen displays current temperature in real time.

Rack/Spot Cooling Focuses Cold Air Where It's Most Needed
Close-coupled cooling delivers cold air near heat loads to discourage recirculation and increase energy efficiency. A flexible delivery tube lets you aim cold air to a specific spot, such as an overheated rack enclosure or an equipment hot spot. Hot air exits through a window or drop ceiling via an included exhaust kit. The IT-grade hot air exhaust fan maintains effectiveness even under a high heat load. The unit also dehumidifies and filters the air, providing better air quality that can enhance operating conditions and equipment reliability.

Built-In Evaporator Ensures No Water Collection Tank to Empty
The evaporator expels the condensed water through the directional exhaust duct, eliminating the need for a floor drain or water collection tank and saving you time and money. No external condenser, refrigerant piping or professional maintenance is required for simple operation.

Add an Optional Remote Management Accessory for 24/7 Monitoring and Control
Install the optional SRCOOLNETLX network module (sold separately) to monitor temperatures, receive alerts, review logs and control settings from anywhere, anytime, via SNMP, web browser, SSH, telnet or command line interface. The built-in LX Platform's PowerAlert® Device Manager provides a single interface to cycle the connected air conditioner on and off, adjust its fan speed, change its target set point temperature and switch to dehumidification mode.

Designed for Simple Plug-and-Play Installation by Almost Anyone
The self-contained SRXCOOL12KA requires no disruptive construction projects or costly service calls from plumbers or HVAC specialists. Built-in rolling casters make the 34-kilogram unit easy to install and relocate. The 1.8-meter power cord features an IEC Type I plug that connects to a standard AC outlet. The unit is programmed to restart automatically after power failures, and a built-in timer allows unattended shutdown and startup.

    Learn more about Cooling Systems

Introduction: Air conditioning plays a critical role in maintaining optimal temperatures for data centers and server closets, where sensitive electronic equipment generates heat continuously. In this educational piece, we will delve into the specific considerations and requirements for air conditioning in data centers and server closets to ensure efficient cooling and reliable operation.

    1. Importance of Proper Cooling: Data centers and server closets house a significant amount of electronic equipment that generates heat during operation. Maintaining appropriate temperatures is crucial for the performance, longevity, and reliability of the equipment. Excessive heat can lead to equipment failure, reduced efficiency, and potential data loss.

    2. Cooling Systems for Data Centers and Server Closets: a. Precision Air Conditioning (PAC): PAC systems are designed specifically for data centers and server rooms. They provide precise temperature and humidity control through advanced cooling techniques, such as direct expansion or chilled water systems. PACs offer better control, redundancy, and scalability to meet the unique cooling demands of these environments.

    b. Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC): CRAC units are commonly used in larger data centers. They operate similarly to PAC systems but are typically larger in capacity and often incorporate additional features like hot aisle/cold aisle containment for improved efficiency.

    c. In-Row Cooling: In-row cooling systems are strategically placed close to the server racks, providing localized cooling. These systems offer better efficiency, reduced energy consumption, and easier scalability.

    1. Factors to Consider: When selecting and implementing air conditioning for data centers and server closets, the following factors should be considered:

    a. Heat Load Calculation: Accurate heat load calculation is essential to determine the cooling capacity required to maintain appropriate temperatures. Factors like equipment density, power consumption, and future growth should be considered.

    b. Redundancy and Resilience: Data centers require redundancy in cooling systems to ensure uninterrupted operation. Implementing redundant systems, backup power supply, and appropriate maintenance plans are vital to avoid downtime and equipment failures.

    c. Airflow Management: Proper airflow management is crucial to maximize cooling efficiency. Hot aisle/cold aisle containment, optimized rack layouts, and effective use of air distribution systems help to minimize hot spots and ensure uniform cooling.

    d. Energy Efficiency: Data centers consume substantial amounts of energy, and optimizing energy efficiency is paramount. Consider energy-efficient cooling solutions, such as variable speed fans, economizers, and energy management systems, to reduce power consumption and associated costs.

    1. Maintenance and Monitoring: Regular maintenance and monitoring are essential for the reliable operation of cooling systems in data centers and server closets. Key practices include: a. Cleaning air filters and coils to ensure optimal airflow. b. Regular inspections for leaks, proper refrigerant levels, and electrical connections. c. Monitoring temperature and humidity levels to identify and address any anomalies promptly. d. Implementing proactive maintenance plans and partnering with qualified HVAC professionals.

Conclusion: Proper cooling is a critical aspect of maintaining optimal conditions in data centers and server closets. By understanding the specific requirements, selecting suitable cooling systems, implementing proper airflow management, and adhering to regular maintenance practices, data center operators can ensure efficient cooling, equipment reliability, and the longevity of their valuable electronic assets.
