    About Linksys

Linksys was bought out by Belkin in 2013
At Belkin International, we create products that help people realize the power of technology and make peoples lives better, easier and more fulfilling. This has been Belkins mission since our inception in 1983.

Belkin was founded by CEO, Chet Pipkin, in his parent's garage. Even back then, Chet's passion was driven by solving customer's needs. He manufactured computer cable assemblies in the evenings and on weekends, and sold them to local computer manufacturers and dealers in response to the burgeoning personal computer market in the 1980's. Since then, we've kept our southern California origins and are based in Playa Vista, right in the heart of the Los Angeles tech center.

Today, Belkin International has three brands - Belkin, Linksys and WeMo - to enhance the technology that connects us to the people, activities and experiences we love. Belkin products are renowned for their simplicity and ease of use, while our Linksys brand helped make wireless connectivity mainstream around the globe. Our newest brand, WeMo, is the leader in delivering customizable smart home experiences. Its product platform empowers people to monitor, measure and manage their electronics, appliances and lighting at home and on-the-go.

    Learn more about Wireless Routers

Switches, routers, and wireless access points

There are two kinds of internet routers available: wired and wireless.

When you sign up for a new broadband deal, you'll receive a wireless model rather than a wired one from your internet service provider (ISP).

That's because wired ones have become outdated and tend to only be used by those who want to get online via an Ethernet cable.

Wireless routers allow you to do that, too, and most come with at least four Ethernet ports for connecting PCs, TVs and other in-home gadgets to the internet — but they also let you connect to a Wi-Fi network with other devices.

    What is a wireless router?

A wireless router is an electronic device that works as a router — meaning it sends data from the internet cable to a device — and as a wireless access point so this data can be shared through radio signals instead of another cable.

How does a Wi-Fi router work?

Plug your phone or cable line into your router and data will be sent through the connection to the router.

The Wi-Fi router then takes this data and converts it into radio signals, which are then picked up by devices with Wi–Fi capability such as laptops, tablets, smartphones and games consoles.

How do devices connect to a Wi-Fi router?

To connect to your router, you'll be prompted to enter a password on the device you're using. This is usually supplied by your ISP and can be found on the bottom of the router.

This tends to be a series of numbers and letters, designed to offer heightened security and protect your network from being used by others illegally.

    What is a wireless router?

As well as being able to provide wireless access to the web and other services on smartphones, tablets and PCs, you can use your router to make calls over the internet, saving on expensive phone bills. You can also use it to access digital TV, using products such as Apple TV, Amazon's Firestick, Google's Chromecast or a smart TV.

    Wireless networking

Wireless networking is a method by which homes, telecommunications networks and business installations avoid the costly process of introducing cables into a building, or as a connection between various equipment locations.
CompSource will educate and help make this process enjoyable and easy.

Whether you're planning on using your network for basic home tasks or enterprise level security. You can tell our trained sales professionals your needs, and we'll make custom recommendations to suit your specifications and budget. Our reps have extensive knowledge and love to share. We educate, not sell, CompSource makes sure you buy what you need and not waste money on what you don't. As with every decision we never push, it's up to you when, and if you make a purchase.

CompSource has a great technical staff that can help with a solution for your exact needs.
