PERSONAL SCANNER DILEMMA Customers looking for personal scanners face serious price-performance tradeoffs. Lowest-price scanners are slow, often unreliable with large jobs and can deliver disappointing scan quality. "Easy" software limits flexibility, scan precise settings and may cause you to need additional software. Higher speed scanners often cost as much as a personal all-in-one printer, take more precious desk space, and carry higher cost of ownership. And they can't be shared with others on a network. Given today's "work from anywhere" environment, with home and virtual workers, blended offices and a cloud/mobile infrastructure, we think these tradeoffs need a new solution. PRICE AND PERFORMANCE The new Xerox® D35 Scanner brings together the highest scan speeds in its category, reliable paper handling, and several software applications so you can choose the right tool for the job. Featuring scan speeds up to 45 pages per minute (90 images per minute in duplex mode), long jobs are handled quickly, saving time - especially important when customers or colleagues are waiting for the scan. With a proven hardware design platform, it supports a beyond-personal daily duty cycle. Yet its price is at the very low end of the competition. It's the fastest personal scanner in its category and carries a small footprint. And though it's a USB-to-PC scanner, it can be shared with users across local and cloud networks. No more tradeoffs. BUILT TO LAST The D35 Scanner uses a straight paper path, with a 50-sheet automatic document feeder. Ultrasonic double-sheet detection is built in. It scans paper documents, photos, thick stock and hard cards. Long document mode handles continuous feed documents up to 236" long - ideal for medical equipment and energy instrument readouts. The daily duty cycle of 8,000 pages per day - at least double any competitive personal scanner - demonstrates our confidence in this proven technology. In short, this compact solution is one you can count on. POWERFUL SOFTWARE Visioneer VAST Network© software brings a powerful new feature, allowing the D35 Scanner to be shared (via the host PC) with others on local or cloud networks, adding even more economic value to our customers. Visioneer's Intelligent PC Software Platform is available to each user. Visioneer OneTouch® offers custom scan workflows at the touch of a button. Visioneer Capture SE handles custom scan batches, scan data extraction, barcode support and scan-to-cloud features. Full- version ABBYY® FineReader Standard (Windows and macOS) software handles OCR and PDF file editing. Visioneer Organizer AI helps you organize your PC scan (and other) files, adding tags, file search and machine-learning document classification of similar documents like invoices and standard forms. Visioneer Scan Utility, ICA and TWAIN drivers are included for macOS. Customers can choose one or all of these applications based upon their needs. | |

About Xerox
Xerox Corporationis an American global corporation that sells print and digital document products and services in more than 160 countries. Xerox is headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut (having moved from Stamford, Connecticut in October 2007), though its largest population of employees is based around Rochester, New York, the area in which the company was founded. The company purchased Affiliated Computer Services for $6.4 billion in early 2010. As a large developed company, it is consistently placed in the list of Fortune 500 companies.
Researchers at Xerox and its Palo Alto Research Center invented several important elements of personal computing, such as the desktop metaphor GUI, the computer mouse and desktop computing. These concepts were frowned upon by the then board of directors, who ordered the Xerox engineers to share them with Apple technicians. The concepts were adopted by Apple and later Microsoft. With the help of these innovations, Apple and Microsoft came to dominate the personal computing revolution of the 1980s, whereas Xerox was not a major player.
The laser printer was invented in 1969 by Xerox researcher Gary Starkweather by modifying a Xerox 7000 copier. Xerox management was afraid the product version of Starkweather's invention, which became the 9700, would negatively impact their copier business so the innovation sat in limbo until IBM launched the 3800 laser printer in 1976.
