General Information:

DISTRIBUTED WORKPLACE NEEDS

Today's global environment and growing virtual workforce has accelerated digital transformation. People need simple, speedy, shared network technology to complete the paperless, virtual, cloud-based workplace. Yet traditional USB scanners require a one-to-one connection to a single PC. Network- standalone scanners don't have the depth of scanning software available on PCs and laptops. MFPs are rarely equipped with the reliable paper paths, capacity and speed of dedicated document scanners. And centralized production scanning and archiving environments are moving to distributed offices and even home workers.

A NEW SOLUTION

The Xerox® D70n Scanner is designed for the new world of work. It's ideal for office environments needing shared network technology. Built on a proven hardware and electronics platform, it supports an unheard-of daily duty cycle and a long standard manufacturer's warranty. It's the fastest departmental scanner in its category, and supports multi-user scanning via multiple interfaces.

RUGGED RELIABILITY

The D70n Scanner supports a daily duty cycle of 15,000 pages per day, up to 3 times higher than competitive departmental scanners. This is possible due to our award- winning reverse-roller, dual-motor paper path to eliminate jams. Ultrasonic double- sheet detection is built in. The 100-sheet automatic paper feeder supports hard cards and paper widths up to tractor-fed paper. It's backed up with a 3-year Standard Manufacturer's Warranty. These features are absolutely necessary to support ultra- high-speed scanning.

SPEED DEMON

With speeds up to 90 pages per minute / 180 images per minute, the D70n is in Production scanning speed territory. This level of throughput can create bottlenecks between picking the paper and the final scan file. To ensure true full-speed scanning, we've designed an end-to end approach to speed. The D70n features a custom "system in a chip" image processor to handle common scan algorithms in hardware. USB 3.1 Gen 1 or Gigabit Ethernet connections offer wide data pipelines, and Visioneer's Acuity PC Optimization uses smart logic to use as much PC power as is available to complete the final image processing and file creation. These scan speeds support distributed batch paper, mailroom and archiving environments.

SHARING IS GOOD

With USB and Network connections, multiple people can connect with the D70n Scanner concurrently from any PC connected to the network, even remote staff. The Visioneer Intelligent Software Platform is available to each user. Visioneer OneTouch offers custom scan workflows at the touch of a button. Visioneer Capture SE handles custom scan batches and scan-to- cloud features. Visioneer TWAIN™. Full- version ABBYY® FineReader Standard software handles OCR and PDF file editing. Each user can choose one or all of these applications based upon their needs.

    About Xerox

Xerox's industry-leading technology, software and people are advancing workflow automation, analytics, personalization, security solutions and innovative digital printing - helping organizations of all sizes around the globe work, communicate and collaborate more efficiently.

Xerox Corporationis an American global corporation that sells print and digital document products and services in more than 160 countries. Xerox is headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut (having moved from Stamford, Connecticut in October 2007), though its largest population of employees is based around Rochester, New York, the area in which the company was founded. The company purchased Affiliated Computer Services for $6.4 billion in early 2010. As a large developed company, it is consistently placed in the list of Fortune 500 companies.

Researchers at Xerox and its Palo Alto Research Center invented several important elements of personal computing, such as the desktop metaphor GUI, the computer mouse and desktop computing. These concepts were frowned upon by the then board of directors, who ordered the Xerox engineers to share them with Apple technicians. The concepts were adopted by Apple and later Microsoft. With the help of these innovations, Apple and Microsoft came to dominate the personal computing revolution of the 1980s, whereas Xerox was not a major player.

The laser printer was invented in 1969 by Xerox researcher Gary Starkweather by modifying a Xerox 7000 copier. Xerox management was afraid the product version of Starkweather's invention, which became the 9700, would negatively impact their copier business so the innovation sat in limbo until IBM launched the 3800 laser printer in 1976.
