Shop at CompSource for camcorders, including action, waterproof, helmet mounted, flash memory, and portable video cameras. Buying a digital camcorders can be overwhelming but important if you want your memories to last a lifetime! Here is a very quick guide to help with this decision.

Camcorders, sometimes called digital camcorders, are versatile motion capture cameras. Selecting the right one for your needs depends on several variables. If portability is a concern, you should look at mini camcorders, which can travel with you everywhere. The camcorder's home country is another consideration. If you intend to use it primarily in the United States, an NTSC compatible camcorder is the way to go.

1. Determine what you need
What type of photography will you be doing? (portraits, landscapes, macro, sports)
2. Megapixels are good and bad!
The more megapixels often equates to more noise in the picture. If you're only printing images at a normal size then anything over 5 megapixels will be fine. If you start blowing your images up you might want to pay the extra money for the upper end of what's on the market today.
3. DSLR or Point and Shoot / Compact Camera?
While Digital SLRs are getting more affordable they are not for everyone. They do however produce extremely professional photos! While a Compact point and shoot is great for a trip, many are even waterproof.
4. Optical Zoom is King
Not all "zooms" are created equal. Digital zooms simply enlarge the pixels which makes it look more pixelated. If you're looking for a zoom lens make sure it's an optical zoom (most modern cameras have them of at least 3x in length ie they'll make your subject three times as big with an increasing array of "super zooms" coming onto the market at up to 12x Optical Zoom).

6/2/06 3:25 PM I ordered a scanner from them on a Wednesday around 3:00 PM. Shipping was free so I just ordered standard ground shipping. I received the scanner the next morning by Fedex ground. They only had to ship it one state away, but I was very impressed that they had it packaged up and shipped out the door to me within 2 hours of my order. spooksmcgee22
